Day 1. Denpasar - Banyuwangi - Ijen resort

A morning departure from your hotel in Bali via minibus whisks you along the island's scenic west coast, a slice of the "real Bali" few tourists see. Stop for photos and refreshment amid terraced rice fields, rustic villages during the two-and-a-half hour drive to Gilimanuk for the short ferry crossing to Java. Tour the quaint twon of Banyuwangi, including lunch and a becak(pedicab) ride visiting its friendly neighborhoods, traditional market and chinese temple. Following the tour, the minibus climbs to Ijen Resort and Villas, your luxurious accomodations, percehd at the edge of the rainforest in the foothills of the volcanoes. Enjoy a gourmet dinner, and relax overnight in mountain tranquility.

Day 2. Ijen Resort - Ijen Crater - Denpasar

After an early wakeup call and breakfast, a four-wheel drive vehicles carries you through coffee and cloe plantation around the village of Licin and into one of Java's last rainforest, shrouded in clouds along the lower slopes of Mount Ijen. You emerge from the forest's giant ferns and rich wild life at the Park Ranger's station to begin the 90 minutes high to Ijen crater, along a shady trail with spectacular views. Rest along the rim of the volcanic crater lake at an elevation of 2883 meters. The lake's eerie colors and smoke wafting from bright yellow sulphur deposits along the shore create  a landscape both desolately barren and vibrantly alive. Watch miners descend into the crater and re-emerge carrying up to 80 kilos of ore on bamboo baskets along the treacherous path. After absorbing this unique scene, walk down the mountain. Return to the hotel for lunch and, perhaps, a refreshing plunge in the pool, before leaving for the ferry to Bali. Arrive at your hotel in the early evening.  

You can extend your stay at Ijen Resort and villas for a second night to enjoy more of the scenic serenity and mountain air in this inspirational, unspoiled area, itinerary as follows

Day 2 Ijen Resort - Ijen Crater - Ijin Resort

Return to Ijen Resort after your hike for lunch. An afternoon at your leisure, for a swim in the pool, a hot bath, or trekking through the rainforest or rice fields in the vicinity of the hotel. A gourmet dinner awaits your call.

Day 3. Fishing Port or rainforest - Bali

After breakfast and a look at the volcanoes looming in the golden morning sunlight, you can either visit unspoiled nearby villages to see Javanese farming life, and experience the colorful traditional fishing port of Muncar. or hike into the rainforest to discover mountain springs and inspirational spots for meditation. If you prefer, simple relax on your terrace or at the pool, drinking in the spectacular scenery and fresh mountain air. Stop for lunch en route to the ferry to Bali. Arrive at your hotel in the early evening.
