FLORES DISCOVERY

Flores island lies between Sumbawa and Timor islands is an abbreviation of Cabo da Flores which was used by Portuguese sailor in the 17th century to identify the cape of the eastern end of the islands because of its underwater gardens. The sea gardens extend a long most of the northern coastline and offshore reefs and they are most pofuse near Maumere where a diving resort and also Riung. Divided by mountain chains and volcanoes, the island populated by ethnic groups with their own traditions and language.

 

KOMODO & RINCA

Nestled between eastern Sumbawa and Western Flores lies three tiny grass covered island Komod and Rican which together form the Komodo National Park, a protected wildlife reserve. This is the home of the giants lizard known as the Komodo Dragon it was thought to be a myth until the turn of the century, when fishermen who were forced by a storm to take shelter on Komodo sight the monsters. This is the world's largest monitor lizard, Varanus Komodoensis, when full grown it measures up to 3.13 meters (10 feet 2 inches) in length and weight anything up to 165.9 kg (365 pounds) They are fearsome cratures with enormous jaws, squat muscular legs and sharp claws. Preying on live deer, goats and wild pigs they lie in wait hidden in the long grass.

CONVINCE: Be a pioneer! Nusa Tenggara, the exotic place least visited by foreigners. It is a worthwhile to visit. The destination has a strong ethnic touch with typical tribal work of an old civilization. The people are still influenced by the animistic believes. Nature settings are beautiful; there are soaring volcanoes, colored lakes, forests, and prehistoric giant animals too.

Indoctrinate: Get your valuable clients psychologically well prepared with the factual conditions of the destination.

Inform: let your clients to be thoroughly informed with the facts that:

Nusa Tenggara is a newly developed Tourist Destination. The facilities: accommodations, restaurants, transportation, etc. are still of a very basic (even poor) standard.

Do not expect to get: Hot water in the bathrooms, soft & thick mattresses in all the lodges during the trip or international standardized services in the hotels and restaurants.

There are possibilities to get stranded in some places due to delayed or cancelled flights.

Don'ts :

Do not connect the Domestic Flight from Nusa Tenggara with the International flights in the same day. Allow spare time at least one day in between.

Do not issue the flight tickets within Nusa Tenggara in another places. Issue ticket locally since there are only (mostly) GSA of Merpati Airlines run the daily ground handling operations, they earn their living from ticket issuing.
